Ivy's plans multiple bakings per day...

Ivy Bakery is now open on 138 W. Houston.  I happened to walk by the night of their soft open and scored a 2-hour-old chocolate cupcake that was excellent.  Ivy seems to have a larger than normal array of baked goods (pies, scones, cupcakes, cakes, cookies) and the best part is they will be featuring, multiple, fresh bakings per day.  So that means hot scones, fresh pie and other treats at 10pm.   They also have a DJ console and dark, woody tables to chill at.  More soon.

Ivy Bakery Website is here .  Their Facebook page is here.

Hours: Mon – Wed: 7:00 am - 11:00 pm, Thu – Sat: 7:00 am - 2:00 am, Sun: 7:00 am - 11:00 pm

Lulu's Sweet Apothecary (vegan) cake batter soft serve

With all the hype about the opening of the Big Gay Ice Cream Store,  I thought it would be cool to feature their East Village neighbor, the  non-dairy, super-low-key, VEGAN alternative Lulu’s Sweet Apothecary.  This tiny 100% vegan ice cream shop sells what many bloggers believe is the best vegan ice cream flavor in New York–cake batter soft serve.   (more…)

Grand opening of the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck in New York City

The unstoppable juggernaut of social media behind the grand opening of the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck’s brick and mortar store was something to behold.  It seemed like everyone on Twitter (that I follow at least) was multi-tweeting about this event.  You would think we were about to land the first person on mars.  Instead, a very popular ice cream truck did land on the Lower East Side (right next to a store that sells Blue Bell Ice Cream).
