I wasn’t exactly sure what J was trying to tell me when she gave me a vegan oatmeal raisin chocolate chip cookie from some place called the PMS Kookie Kompany. Was she trying to tell me I had been grumpy lately? Truthfully, I didn’t ponder that question too long. I was too busy thinking about tasting a new cookie.
I had a good feeling about the cookie after seeing the great illustration on the wrapper.
I wasn’t let down - the cookie was excellent. I could tell from the first bite that they didn’t skimp on ingredients such as using canola oil or low grade chocolate chips.
Vegan cookie textures seem to break down into two styles. One, like those from Blossom or Whole Foods have an almost raw feeling. They are very soft and usually super moist with whatever oil is used in place of the butter and
eggs. The other kind like those from City Bakery are crisper as with regular cookies but some feel they have a bitter taste from the when the vegetable based oil gets burned against the pan or cookie sheet.
The PMS Kookie sits firmly in the first group. For more about New York’s cookie offerings from this site go here.

The particular cookie that was bought for me was from Cafe Angelique.

While I think it’s clever, I wonder if I might be mortified to be carrying around a package that says “PMS Kookie”…but it sounds like it was yummy and isn’t that most important?
