S'amore made-to-order almond salted dark chocolate s'more

The Hester Street Market opened their season to huge crowds on Saturday and the food stalls seemed to be the biggest draw. There were plenty of all-new savory and sweet vendors in attendance so I brought a civilian accomplice in order try as much as possible.  Here are a few of the vendors I visited.

Dessert Truck Works Chocolate Tart

Every time I visit the Dessert Truck or Dessert Truck Works (their brick and mortar store front in the East Village) I’m reminded of all the reasons I love this place. Let’s take an inventory shall we?   First, I love their model: three-star, restaurant quality plated desserts without having to drop $100+ on dinner.  Second, they always have something new on the menu like goat’s milk cheese cake. Third, they often have a special combo deal such as a large dessert, macaron and coffee for $8.00.  How can you beat that?  You can’t! (more…)

Melt Bakery Fried Apple Pie from the Hester Street Fair

It looks like the last Hester Street Fair is this weekend and there are some great sweets on offer at reasonable prices.   What’s available if you head down there you ask?  Well, according to Blondie and Brownie Melt Bakery has some delicious fried apple pies!  If it’s still mad warm you might also want to try their cookie-heavy ice cream sandwiches too.
