Last night I had the pleasure of attending the grand opening of Vegan Divas first “bricks and mortar” bakery on the Upper East Side. We’ve been long-time fans of Vegan Divas rich, high-end vegan baked goods and it was great to see their healthier desserts take off. We first reviewed them back in early 2010 and since then they’ve grown by leaps and bounds. Their full line of offerings, including brownies, chocolate mousse and macaroons first debuted in Butterfield Market. Now they can be found in Garden of Eden, Westside Markets and Citarella.
The new bakery will offer the full line of goods from the website as well as soft serve ice cream, fresh juices and new flavors of mousse including passion fruit.
DessertBuzz recommended items from their collection include the Chocolate Brownies, which are as good as any full dairy brownie that I’m aware of. We also like the newer “Decadent Chocolate layered Cake” which features a superb vegan dark chocolate glacage. This cake is capable of changing even the most skeptical dessert fan that vegan can be gourmet too!
I didn’t get a chance to try the vegan ice cream as that won’t be ready until next week.
