This year the event will be held on Wednesday March 20. One addition to this year’s offerings include Macaron Day aprons for sale with proceeds going to City Harvest.
As of this writing 15 bakeries, (13 in NYC) will be participating and offering free macarons to customers (supplies are limited so go early) To receive a free macaron just tell the shop you are there for Macaron Day NYC.

We know that macarons derived from France, but we still think the best place for them is in New York City. As for free macarons?! Count us in.

We never get requests for those and we are a wedding dessert company in Orange County. They look fantastic, maybe not big out west yet?
eric ,
I do see a lot of macarons given as wedding favors out east– even as far outside NYC as Scranton PA. Macarons are certainly not known by everyone yet though.
As usual I enjoyed Macaron Day having taken a day off to visit 8 places. I was sad that La Maison du Chocolat wasn’t participating. Kudos to Chef Florian Bellanger for offering us not one, but three macarons. He had made 1000 for this event. Bouchon Bakery again made the smallest ones – shame on them. Bisou Ciao’s peanut macaron were the most beautiful and as usual, I bought a box of six because I like them a lot. Thanks Tanya!
Seby, Thanks so much for the feedback on Macaron Day–sadly this year I wasn’t able to get out to any of the places. Last year Florian at Mad Mac was also very generous with other DessertBuzz readers! Great to hear what was going on out there!
