The Shake Shack on the Upper West Side was open for business Sunday and the place was hopping already. At 3:00p.m. it was packed with mostly locals and a few tourists sprinkled in.. They are pretty close to having the food and their system down already. I had the ‘Shroom burger, Bird Dog, fries and the Custard of the Day, Shack Shiraz Poached Pear. It was all spot on and cooked to the standards of the downtown shop. The Custard of the day was particularly, superb. They had a designated greeter to explain things and hand out samples of the custard of the day. They gave me a remote electronic device to signal when to come get my food which took about 3 minutes. I counted 20 staff that were visible in the front room. Eater has been tracking the opening for some time so go there to learn more.
